Wiki Patterns

Since a wiki thrives on activity, it's important to make sure the front page shows that and doesn't look stale. Some wiki software has the ability to display a list of recently updated pages, or maintain a dynamically updated list of pages labeled with a common tag.

Use an automatic index to keep your wiki homepage constantly and automatically updated as people edit existing pages and add new ones.

The Wikipatterns homepage has link to Recent Changes and Contributors which shows automatically updated lists of the most recent edits and people who have contributed.

• MySpace - since this pattern encourages people to create personal profile pages as a way to get used to the wiki, listing these pages on an automatic index will show activity and generate momentum.
